About

Katrín Snæhólm Baldursdóttir is an Icelandic artist born 1963 in Hafnarfjordur, a town just outside of Reykjavik city. As a child she was creative and artistic and deep down she knew she was born to do art. At 37, a mother of four, Katrín had this strong calling of the soul, remembering her childhood dream to become an artist.

She moved to England with her family where she studied visual arts and sculpture for four years in Emerson college which builds on Anthrosophical theories from Rudolf Steiner. Then Katrín did her MA in contemporary arts in Oxford Brookes University and specialized in Social sculpture, Joseph Boyes.

Katrín paints because she has the urge to tell stories through forms and colours and to invite people into her spirit world. Katrín is mostly self taught in painting and she says she does’’t follow any rules; she just flows with her inner creative soul. Katrín never knows where the intuitive painting journey is going to take her, but she listens carefully to different storytellers from other dimensions and different worlds and stays true to their stories and births them into our world in her paintings.

Most of these beings are women with strong connection to nature and Katrin is working on a project called 1001 WOMEN where she gives all these women a voice, form and colour. They come in groups of seven so there will be 143 groups of women entering this world through Katrin’s paintings, sculptures, photos and god know what forms they will show up in in the future. At the same time Katrins aim is to activate 1001 women from all over the world to do something amazing 1001 times to create a new vision for our future.

After Katrin was diagnosed with a burnout in 2015, she couldn’t do anything, her body was in pain and her brain lost in fog. ”The art has been my healing, to paint has helped me back to my purpose and my muses have guided me back to health through creativity, stories and colours. I know our world needs art in all forms to heal and we as humans can use art to connect to who we are. We are amazing creative creatures who just can’t thrive without art. We are all artists!”
